Climbing the tenement-like stairs to Haggis Hostel was amusing. Encouraged by the wall painting (you'll understand when you see it!) I made it to the single floor hostel and was warmly welcomed. This was a fine friendly place with great thoughtful staff, a spotlessly clean suite of washing facilities, a comfy bunk and even a free breakfast. all for twenty quid! Well, I booked a second night, and came back to Sussex on the train with a First Class upgrade on the money I'd saved! Edinburgh Waverley station is 100yds away across Princes Street. What I never get in a hotel of course is the unpretentious friendly chattering of travellers 35 years younger than me making each other coffee or sharing an affordable bottle of wine in the kitchen before bedtime. Great stuff.
For £20? No complaints!
It was really a very nice hostel. Extremely friendly staff, only young people. And everything was clean. If I ever come to Edinburgh again, I will definitely stay here again. And the location (right opposite the train station) is superb!
The room for 4 is small.Tiny.
The room is very clean, the location is great, so close to old town and Waverley station. the hostel staffs are very helpful and friendly. I think it absolutely is my next choice!
Great staff, perfect location, good price.
No lift, which means you gotta carry the luggage to up floor. But it really doesn't matter for backpackers.
location is very close to the train station. breakfast contain fresh fruit.
well there are 55 steps to climb up the floor not suitble for people with heavy luggage. need to do beddings urself. need to pay for internet and storage of the luggage. 10 person dorm is too small for 10 person, it is the smallest 10 person dorm i have ever booked. add up all the money i spent i could book a B&B instead.
Staff were immediately helpful and friendly and beds and linen were lovely, clean and very comfortable!
there was nothing to dislike!
Nothing but good things to say about this place. Staff was friendly and helpful, location was amazing, cost was very competitive. I would definitely recommend to couple or another solo traveller if you want a cheap, comfortable place to stay for a few days in Edinburgh. Thank you!!
The staff is friendly and provides free Wifi for students; The hostel is very near Waverley station and easy to be found. The breakfest is ok. The bathing rooms are clean and big enough.
The friendly welcome at all times; the prices; the breakfast choices; the ability to leave luggage in a locked room while away; internet availability; the location near Waverley station and Princes Street.
Up three flights of stairs with no lift!
Very nice place with a non-stop reception. Good staff that help you with anything that you need and, of course, they can.
It will be great if they will sell beer in the future :D:D:D
Very clean hostel. Exellent kitchen, good location.
I like everething. Beds are too close to each other.
Really clean, reasonable prices, staff are helpful, and great location! I would definitely recommend this place, much better than the Backpackers establishment on the floor above them. That place is usually bonkers.
the location is very convenient, you can use the laundry, although it's a little bit expensive.
the breakfast was so simple, if you go to have breakfast too late, it will be nothing left.
Very cleaning in the room and bed
Hostel was the best I have stayed at over my 5-week journey. Under 5-min walk from the train station, bus to the airport, and the tour buses. Right on the main street through town where everything is in a 10min walk. Internet services provided. Free breakfast in the morning. Has a guitar you can play plus a stereo system. One lounge room plus kitchen.
Rooms were a little small. But what else do you do in a room but sleep?
